Tammy de Farria - Assitant Laboratory Technical Officer
Tammy completed a Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Western Sydney, majoring in anatomy and physiology in 2006. At the end of 2006, she began working for an Australian poultry company conducting flock monitoring and final product testing. Her role during this time swung back and forth between; PCR, Quality assurance, Microbiology, Serology, Quality systems and Media Preparation.
Tammy took up her role with the Taronga Conservation Society Australia as the Assistant Laboratory Technical Officer in January 2010, part-time, whilst she completed her Masters of Wildlife Conservation at Macquarie University. On a day to day basis, Tammy could be doing anything from parasitology and microbiology to haematology and biochemistry. In July, she took on a further part-time role as Pathology Assistant where she conducts data entry and assists the diagnostic veterinary pathologist.
